Most people want to fit in and feel they are part of a larger community in which they can participate, be useful and make a positive impact. Students with special needs are no different. However, special needs often create special challenges that require additional resources to assist them in overcoming physical, emotional, personal and societal obstacles. That's where we can help!
This section of the PCC website is dedicated to enriching the lives of Philadelphia's special needs children and their families. Here you will find helpful resources for every aspect of a child's life, including listings of local special needs programs and information on specific disabilities.
Philadelphia Children's Connection seeks to provide resources to:
1.) Promote greater understanding, compassion and respect for people with special needs.
2.) Organize and clarify the various needs and disabilities to provide easier access to information.
3.) Provide vital information and resources to both caregivers and students with special needs.
4.) Acknowledge and breakdown any unspoken barriers against people with disabilities.

PCC seeks to break through the issues of fear, prejudice, indifference and misunderstanding about various disabilities, by helping those who don't have special needs better understand what it feels like to actually live with a disability. This section will provide resources that offer insight and information on how you can help your friends or relatives with special needs better cope with and grow beyond their perceived limits.
PCF is pleased to announce that The Widener Memorial School is accepting student applications for enrollment. Please click here for additional school information, or contact Principal Sharon Glodek at (215) 456-3015.
