Welcome Parents and Guardians
First of all, thank you for taking time to look at this site. Welcome to the section specifically designed for you. We can all agree on one thing: parenting isn’t easy! Here at the Philadelphia Children’s Foundation, we know it can be fulfilling, challenging, frustrating, exhausting, discouraging and inspiring – all in one day!
We have collected both local and national resources to help you guide and encourage your children as they grow. Parents and children’s concerns and priorities can differ widely (especially with teenagers!), so please take the time to click on the kids and teens pages with your children to explore interesting programs both in the city and in your neighborhoods. The teens page in particular includes health tips and resources to address peer pressure, family conflicts and teen responsibility, as well as school issues and activities.
A special component of your Parents’ section is the Life Guide button on the upper right corner. It provides a framework for parents to encourage their children’s strengths and skills, and discusses a process to help them mature into confident, curious, responsible adults. (Please note that we have a different Life Guide on the Teens Page, which allows them to explore different fields of interest by clicking through a decision-making career game.) Please check out both Life Guides, and we hope these tools prove helpful to you.
