"The Teacher Leaders Network is not just a listserv, not just a website, not just a professional growth opportunity. TLN is an active community of talented teacher leaders from across the nation, dedicated to student success and the transformation of teaching into a true profession.
Since its 2003 launch in the southeastern United States, TLN has expanded into 28 states and one Canadian province and will continue to invite new members until our 50-state goal is reached. Our diverse membership, now approaching 200, includes a mix of suburban (45%), rural (25%) and urban (30%) teachers across the PreK-12 spectrum. About one-third of TLN's members work in Title I schools, including some of the most challenging inner-city schools in America.
On average, our members have been professional educators for 20 years. About one-fifth pursued teaching later in life, following careers in business, engineering, journalism, social work and the military. A significant majority are current classroom teachers. As TLN grows and matures, some of our members are moving into other teacher leadership roles as school-based coaches, lead teachers, teachers-in-residence, and teacher educators."
