"Since 1984, The Supportive Older Women's Network (SOWN) has been one of the only organizations in the country exclusively dedicated to serving the special needs of women as they age.

SOWN recognizes that a woman’s physical well being is intricately tied to her emotional state and to the strength of her social support network. SOWN’s cutting edge supportive services empower older women to address the challenges of aging and improve their quality of life.

SOWN’s programs include community support groups for older women, telephone support groups for homebound older women, support groups for caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients, support and counseling for grandparents raising grandchildren, as well as leadership training and volunteer opportunities for older women."
