Selective Service System

The mission of the Selective Service System is to provide manpower to the armed forces in an emergency and to run an Alternative Service Program for men classified as conscientious objectors during a draft.
Almost all male U.S. citizens and male aliens living in the U.S., who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service. You can register online, in person at the Post Office, through your high school, or by mail.
