National Association of Urban Hospitals |
|
"The National Association of Urban Hospitals was launched in 1993 by a group of hospital executives who recognized that private, non-profit, urban safety-net hospitals have distinct needs and face unique challenges that deserve their own strong, united voice in the policy deliberations that affect such providers in Washington, D.C. A membership organization, the association's mission is to advocate adequate support and financing for the private, non-profit, urban safety-net hospitals that serve America's needy urban communities. In addition to being urban, private, and non-profit, urban safety-net hospitals typically are characterized by the significant proportions of elderly and low-income patients they see - patients insured by Medicare, by Medicaid, or not at all."
