This article will outline the steps involved in becoming a registered nurse. There is a huge demand for registered nurses because of the aging population and baby boomers who will be needing care over the next 20 years. Nurses starting salary is approximately $45,000 but can vary widely depending on the area of the country you live in. Nurses have a multitude of options for jobs- hospitals (critical care, emergency, operating room, "the floor"), outpatient clinics, schools, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, law firms, colleges and the list goes on.
