"The City of Philadelphia funds ACANA’S WATREP Program, through the Children Investment Strategy (CIS) after school program. CIS funding affords ACANA to run an after school program which serves about 55 youths. The program assist resettled children and adolescents from West Africa make the requisite adjustments in school and communities in America.  The program objective is to reduce the risk of school failure which eventually leads to school dropout and ultimately to criminal deviance."


"The African Cultural Alliance of North America (ACANA) was founded in 1999 in order to bridge the gap between the African immigrant and the American community. It was incorporated in October 1999 as a response to the overwhelming requests for help by the African refugee, asylee and immigrant community members in dealing with the stressors associated with adjusting to their new community."
